Treatment at Sophienklinik

For abdominoplasty a horizontal incision is placed parallel to the upper hairline of the pubic hair to form an arc running from the thighs to the hipbones. The surgeon detaches the abdominal skin with the fatty tissue from the abdominal muscles as far up as the costal arch. S/he then pulls the skin down and shortens it to ensure that the abdominal wall fits tightly.

The navel is then worked in. Later the patient will again be able to
wear a navel piercing.

If necessary, abdominoplasty also includes a tightening of the abdominal muscles in the midsection by means of suturing. Towards the end of abdominoplasty surgery the surgeon applies a bandage with drains.
