What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid (Restylane) is a product used for injection of rhytids and is produced by biosynthesis. It does not require allergy testing and can therefore be used immediately.

Rhytids in the following areas can be treated with Restylane:

  • corners of mouth
  • nasolabial fold
  • crow's feet
  • frown lines, glabella lines
  • lip enlargement
  • perioral lines
  • neckline rhytids
  • hand rhytids
  • neck rhytids

Treatment

For facial line smoothing hyaluronic acid is injected with a very fine needle into the areas concerned such as the nasolabial fold, frown line and corner of the mouth. This injection is almost pain-free. It is also suitable for lip enlargement.

After the treatment light reddening and swelling may develop for one to two days. Once the swelling has worn off the result will last for about one year.

Recovery

Do not use any makeup for the rest of the day. During the first week after treatment you should not expose yourself to intensive sunlight in order to avoid irritations or even a sunburn. A certain amount of physical exercise and sports activity is permitted, but you should not overdo it or use the sauna.
